Is it me, but is that music not from Lord Of The Rings? The music does set a perfect mood for the film however I was expecting some hobbits running into shot and watching the trailers I thinking of Sam’s emotional speech at end of The Two Towers! There was talk of Synder adopting a Terence Malick Tree of Life style shots and you’ll see he has indeed showcasing Superman’s childhood days, the innocence of those days, but how can someone with in your face cgi fest create something that’s visually beautiful? Christopher Nolan? Possibly as Mr Nolan is the film’s producer and at no time until the last few seconds would you think what we’re watching is a comicbook film! No cgi or special fx or even action are in this trailer nor are any other of the characters apart a glimpse of Kevin Costner who plays Jonathan Kent, but why 2 trailers? Both trailers are virtually identical but the voiceovers are different, one with Kevin Costner the other with Jor-El Russell Crowe who is Superman’s real father.
Synder is no stranger to comicbook films with 300 and the overly criticised Sukerpunch played like one both films heavy on the action however when you see the 2 trailers what you get is not what you expect from this director. When it comes to comic book films it’s hard to get away from mentioning Christopher Nolan, like his films or not he has set a benchmark on the way you tell the story, the visual aesthetics, making you feel your not really watching a comic book film and the characters actually do feel real. Is it a bird? No! Is It A Plane? No! It’s 2 teaser trailers for Man Of Steel! Superman! dah dah dah dah dah!Īs the door closes on the DC legend we know called Batman with The Dark Knight Rises Zack Snyder’s Superman origin film Man Of Steel is waiting in the wings to fly he flag in the superhero blockbuster film.
